Can I have both PCs and Macs on my home network?
Yes, and both can surf the Internet at the same time, at the same high speed. However, you cannot share files between PCs and Macs.
What kind of Home Networking does EarthLink offer?
EarthLink currently offers 3 types of Home Networking: Ethernet, PowerLine™, and Wireless.
How fast is it?
Data rates are as fast as 100Mbps
The transmission rates listed show the maximum speed of each network type. In practical terms, this may not be as important as the average speed. Some types of Home Networking can deliver the maximum speed continuously, while others, like wireless, may be affected by environmental factors.
Why is it important to consider a network's speed?
The faster a network's data transmission rate, the more information can be exchanged in real time. For most applications, 1Mbps is fast enough. Sound and video transmissions require higher transmission rates. The EarthLink Home Networking gateway is designed to smoothly handle the most demanding network applications, both present and future.
Will the router become obsolete in a few months?
No. The router includes free software upgrades and product enhancements. You will be able to easily download upgrades through your EarthLink High Speed Internet connection.
EarthLink can now provide connection assistance and ongoing support for your home network—even if you purchased your router from another provider or a retail store. You don’t even need to have EarthLink High Speed Internet.
