Allowing Email from Specific Senders
Note: The information below applies only if you've activated Suspect Email Blocking.
If you have activated Suspect Email Blocking and would like to
receive email from someone, you must add that person's email address to
your Address Book. You can think of your Address Book as your list of allowed
senders; messages from people whose addresses are in your Address Book are put in your Inbox.
Messages from anyone not in your Address Book will end up in your Suspect Email folder instead of your Inbox. (If messages from people who are not in your Address book are appearing in your Inbox, see our Frequently Asked Questions for possible solutions.)
If you need to receive email from everyone within a particular
company or other organization (e.g., your coworkers or an online
store), adding an entire Company (Domain) to your Address Book is usually more convenient than adding people to your Address Book individually.
If you want to import a large number of email addresses into your Web Mail Address Book, see our Frequently Asked Questions for suggestions.
To add a person to your Address Book:
- Sign in to Web Mail.
- Click the Address Book link in the left column.
- Select Contact from the menu next to the Add button.
- Click Add.
- Fill in the person's name, email address, and any other contact information you want to include.
- Click the Save button at the top or bottom of the form.
Forwarding a Message to Your InboxIf you forward a message from your Suspect Email folder to
your Inbox, you have the option of adding the sender's email address
to your Address Book so that future messages from that sender will go
directly to your Inbox. See Managing Intercepted Email for instructions.
Accepting an Allowed Sender Request When Suspect Email Blocking intercepts a message, spamBlocker notifies the sender with the following email message:
This is an automatic reply to your email message to johndoe@earthlink.net
This email address is protected by EarthLink spamBlocker. Your email message has been redirected to a "suspect email" folder for johndoe@earthlink.net. In order for your message to be moved to this recipient's Inbox, he or she must add your email address to a list of allowed senders.
Click the link below to request that johndoe@earthlink.net add you to this list.
The link points to an online Allowed Sender
Request form that the sender can fill out to request to be added to your
Address Book. If the sender fills out the form, you receive an Allowed Sender
Request via email. You can accept this request to add the sender to your Address
Book. To accept the request: - Open the Allowed Sender Request email message.
- Choose Move to Inbox & Add Contact from the pull-down menu, then Click Go.
- If you don't see the Go button, click the link under the sentence "To ADD this sender to your Address Book and move all blocked emails to your Inbox, click this link."
Once you accept the request, future messages from that sender will
appear in your Inbox. In addition, any messages from that person that
are stored in your Suspect Email folder will be forwarded to your Inbox.
Other Allowed Sender Request OptionsThe Allowed Sender Request email also lets you read the message or
block the sender from sending you any email, including Allowed Sender
Requests, in the future. To read the message: - Open the Allowed Sender Request email message.
- Look for the phrase View Suspect Email and click the link immediately following it.
- If you don't see that option, click the link under the sentence To view the suspect message, click this link.
To block future email and Allowed Sender Requests from the sender: - Open the Allowed Sender Request email message.
- Choose "This is spam" from the pull-down menu, then click Go.
- If you don't see the Go button, click the link under the sentence "To BLOCK this sender completely, or to report the message as spam, click this link:"
To allow this message to reach your Inbox, but NOT add the sender to your address book: - Open the Allowed Sender Request email message
- Choose "Move to Inbox" from the pull-down menu.
- Click the Go button.
When you block a sender, spamBlocker will stop sending that person
automatic replies, and any future messages from that sender will be
deleted before they reach any of your email folders. To unblock a
sender, edit your Blocked Sender List.
