With EarthLink WebLife—free for EarthLink members—you can store and share your digital photos safely and securely.

    What makes WebLife Photo different?

    You can:
    • Add photos directly from your digital camera or memory card: Our desktop software makes it easy to add photos to your collection.
    • Perfect your photos: Our easy-to-use editing features, like single-click fix, brightness/contrast, red-eye reduction, rotate, crop, and convert to black and white help make your photos look professional.
    • Keep your photos organized: Organize your photos into albums, or assign them as favorites. Plus, our convenient search feature helps you locate pictures easily.
    • Access your photos from anywhere: Once you've uploaded your photos, they're stored online, so they're available from any Web browser.
    • Share your photos with family and friends: WebLife members can see the photos directly in the software. Non-WebLife members receive a link via email, allowing them to view their photos online. They can even order prints!
Ready to get started? It's easy... we'll show you how.

    Signing In and Getting Started
When you're ready to get started, go to weblife.earthlink.net.

In the Sign In box, enter your EarthLink email address and your password and click Sign In. Not an EarthLink member? You can try WebLife Photo free for 30 days. Find out how.

Once you've signed in, click the Download Software button to download the WebLife Photo desktop software (Windows users only). With the desktop software, you'll have all your photos at your fingertips for editing, organizing and sharing.

Note: At this time, you must use the WebLife Photo desktop software to upload your photos to your WebLife storage space. Mac users: Look for a new and improved WebLife Photo experience later this year, which will allow you use your Web browser to upload, edit, organize, and store your digital photos.

    Adding Photos
Before you can edit or store your digital photos, you first need to add them to the desktop software. You can add photos by transferring them directly from your digital camera or memory card reader, or from a location on your computer or CD-ROM.

To add photos from a digital camera or memory card reader:
    1. Connect your camera or memory card reader to your computer.
    2. Click the Add Photos button and choose From Camera or Card.
    3. From the Device Name pull-down menu, choose your camera or memory card reader.

If you'd like, check the box next to Delete photo file(s) from my camera or memory card after successfully adding to WebLife Photo.
    4. Click Add.

After you've successfully added photos from your digital camera once, WebLife will remember it. The next time you connect your camera, you'll see it listed on the Add menu, so you won't have to repeat all these steps.
To add photos from your computer:
    1. Click the Add Photos button and choose From Your Computer.
    2. Select the folder that contains the photos you want.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Select whether you want WebLife to Move Photos (which moves them from their original location on your computer into the WebLife Photo folder), Copy Photos (which puts a copy of each photo into the WebLife Photo folder and leaves the original in its location), or Link to Original Photos (which uses a link to find the original photo). Note: Choose Copy Photos if you want to save space on your computer's hard disk.
    5. Click Add.
Using the Desktop Software to Organize Your Photos
You can organize your WebLife Photo collection by putting your photos into albums or projects, or by marking them as favorites. You can also assign photos keyword "tags" so you can easily search for them later.

    Albums
Like a traditional photo album, WebLife albums help you organize your photos. An album can contain pictures from a certain time period, like "Summer 2005," or from an event, like "Trey's 40th Birthday." When you add photos to your collection, WebLife Photo automatically places them in a new album.

    To create an album:
    1. Click the Organize Photos button and choose New Album.
    2. In the Name field, type a name for your album.
    3. From the Date menus, choose the month, day, and year.
    4. In the Description field, type a brief description of the album.
    5. Click Save.
    Projects
A WebLife Photo project allows you to group photos for a temporary task, like burning photos to CD or DVD, sharing them with family and friends, or ordering prints. Unlike adding photos to an album, when you add a photo to a project, WebLife Photo does not duplicate the photo file. Any changes made to the photo from within the project will affect the photo in the album it was copied from. A project can contain photos from multiple albums.

    To create a project:
    1. Select the photos you want to put in your project by clicking on them (they will appear in the photo tray near the bottom of the WebLife Photo window).
    2. Click the Organize Photos button and choose New Project.
    3. In the Title field, type a title for your project and click Yes.
    4. Your project title will appear below the Projects icon in the album list.
    Favorites
A WebLife Photo favorite allows you to easily access photos you think you'll want to view or share regularly.

To mark a photo as a favorite: Right-click on it and choose Add to Favorites.

Once you've marked a photo as a favorite, just click on the Favorites item on the left-side of the WebLife Photo window to see it.

    Marking Photos with Keyword Tags
WebLife Photo keeps track of certain information about each photo file in your collection. This information is important because it will help you search for specific photos in your collection quickly and easily. Some of this information is recorded automatically when you add photos to WebLife-things like the date, filename, size, and location.

You can also assign keyword "tags" for your photos. For example, if you've specified the keyword "Thanksgiving" on all your related photos, you can search for "Thanksgiving" and find photos from past holidays to show your friends.

    Sharing Photos
WebLife Photo has some unique sharing features, including sharing albums from your online storage space, sharing from the desktop software, ordering prints, and printing directly from your computer.

    Online Photo Sharing

One of the most convenient ways to share your digital photos is to share them after you've uploaded them to your WebLife storage space. Your friends and family can view them anytime using a computer with an Internet connection. As long as they have an email address, they can see the photos. They don't even need to have WebLife Photo desktop software installed on their computer.

To share photos from an online album:
    1. Using your Web browser (like Internet Explorer), visit weblife.earthlink.net
    2. Sign in using your EarthLink email address and password.
    3. Click on the WebLife Photo button on the left-hand side of your screen.
    4. Click the Invite Friends link under the album you want to share.
    5. In the TO field, enter the email addresses separated by commas or returns.
    6. In the MESSAGE field, type a brief message to be included with your invitation.
    7. Click the Send Email button.
An invitation will be sent to your friends and family containing the name of the photo album, instructions on how to view the photos, and a personal message from you.

Your friends will click on a link within the invitation, which will bring them to your online photo album. In addition to viewing all of the photos you've shared, your friends and family can order prints for themselves.

    Desktop Software Sharing

Using the WebLife Photo desktop software, you can easily share photos with friends and family. If you share with WebLife users, they'll appear in their Received Photos item of the album list, and they can easily reply with comments. Or, if your friends don't have WebLife, they'll receive a special link via email where they can see your photos using their Web browser.

    To share your photos:
    1. First select the photos that you wish to share by clicking on them.
    2. Once all of the photos you want to share appear in the photo tray, click the Share button.
    3. From the Photo Sharing List, check the boxes next to the people you want to share the photos with. You can add people to your list by clicking the Edit link. To share photos with people not in your sharing list, type their email addresses in the New Email Addresses field.
    4. In the Message field, type the message you'd like to appear with your shared photos.
    5. Below the photo, you can see the number of photos you're sharing. To select additional photos, click the Share more photos button. You will return to the WebLife Photo main view. Once all of the photos you want to share appear in the photo tray, click the Share button again.
    6. Click the Send button to share your photos.
    Ordering Prints

You can order prints in a variety of sizes, and choose to pick up your prints from a local store, or have them delivered to you by mail.

To order prints from an album you've stored online: Click the Order Prints link under the album you choose and follow the on-screen instructions.

To order prints from the desktop software: Select the photos you want by clicking on them. Then click the Order Prints button and follow the on-screen instructions.

    Printing Photos from Your Computer

Using the desktop software and a printer capable of printing photos, you can make prints at home with just a few clicks of your mouse.

To print: Select the photos you want by clicking on them. Then click the Print button and follow the on-screen instructions.
